If You Have Nothing to Offer, Why Are You Here?
Last week an old co-worker connected with me on IG. It was a co-worker I didn’t have many conversations with, but I vaguely remember him. When he started to follow me, I didn’t think much of it. After all, he had a wedding photo as his profile pic so I assumed the reason for contact waspurely professional.
He started by asking me if we could grab coffee one day. To which I responded, “sure”.
He shared what part of the city he lived in and I shared the same. That was all the communication we had on the first day.
As the week rolled past, he started to make small comments on my IG stories. Eventually, he mentioned that he always wanted to talk more extensively with me. I responded naively that it’s hard to chat in the office given our layout.
From there, he asked me what kind of guys I like. I shared with him and immediately followed up with, “Why? You have a friend for me?”
To which he replied, “Maybe. I’m all those things except older.”
He asked me if I minded that he was married. To which, I said, “Oh are you asking me out on a date? I thought the coffee was professional.”
He immediately asked, “Do you think I’m cute?”
